Why ask a question in the first place? These people rarely accept an answer as correct if it differs from their own anyway...

Sometimes people are just asking a rhetorical question to which they already know the answer. If so, why bother me with it, especially if I strained my brain to find an answer and you just beat me to the punch. Once or twice by the same person, no big deal. If I have to work with you, or spend any time with you, and you make a habit of it, I'll "nip it in the bud" to quote Barney Fife.

I have a tendancy to do this myself. Usually it's because the person I'm asking doesn't answer quick enough. But then, sometimes it's because I'm giving them the answer I want. Let's just say, I'm trying to kick this bad habit!
