After seeing this match I was totally surprised of the talent in this weight class. It was an incredible fight which can be consider one of the greatest.

Barrera needed to turn the heat up in rounds 10, 11 & 12 to get a victory in my eyes. He was 1 pt up comming into th 10th, so only needed 1 of 3 for a draw IMO. Too laid-back comming into the finish. Knock down was legit. Marquez had a close, but fair victory.

I agree with Randyman. The Marco Antonio Barrera vs. Juan Manuel Marquez fight was great, but I also thought it was a travesty. A close fight? Yes, it was. But I felt Barrera fought well enough to eek out a decision in his favor. Barrera scored a knockdown, and ought to have been credited for it (his gloves clearly touched the canvas). Even the oft-modest Marquez admitted he had been tagged cleanly. Give credit to the classy Marquez, however, for bringing the fight to the future Hall of Famer as he stood toe to toe with him in an action-packed fight- and promising Barrera a rematch. I can't wait for Barrera-Marquez II in September as it is likely to be just as exciting!

Great fight last night between Marco Antonio Barrera and Juan Manuel Marquez for Barrera's WBC Super Featherweight title. Marquez won by a unanimous decision. Two judges had the fight 116-111 and one had it 118-109 all for Marquez. I thought the judging was a travesty, unjustified and unexplainable. You could easily have made a case for Barrera wining the fight or possibly a draw, which is what I expected. Thats how close it was. Barrera was also not credited for a obvious knockdown and referee Jay Nady, normally on top of things, was asleep at the wheel last night, although he rightly took a point away from Barrera for hitting Maquez while on the canvas. However the fans were not disappointed, and they got their money's worth. It doesnt get much better than this. On the positive side, there will be a rematch in September of this year. Hopefully it will be as good as the first. There is a lot of talent in this division, and its a credit to Barrera that he has been in the midst of it all in the last decade or so.
