Let's not look at the glass as "half-empty". "Quiet" sometimes merely means "shy". Also, a great plus is that a quiet person might be a better listener.

There are a lot of people that are a little more on the reserved side. And just because somebody is a little quieter than someone else don't necessarily mean they're rude. Maybe they don't know how to start a conversation with someone else. Maybe they're shy. There could be a variety of different reasons. But before we make an assumption or judgment about someone else, we should think about some of these things. We also never know what somebody else is going through.

most quiet people are shy. not trying to be rude. besides keeping ones mouth shut at least will not get them in trouble.

Quiet may mean precisely the contrary of this assumption.

I'm painfully shy and many people might look at me as a snob because I find it hard to start a conversation with someone I barely know.

this is just silly... yes people often assume them to be rude or standoffish, but that's their mistake

I dunno . . . sometimes, when I'm "quiet", it's me stopping myself from saying something rude!

What a crock! Normally just the opposite, many quiet people are very well-natured, sophisticated, and humble individuals.

No, they are just misjudged. Sometimes quiet or shy people make the best friendships.

I'm usually quiet. Sometimes I'm shy, or sometimes I just like to listen to others.
