Although I know many Christians tend to be Republican, there are more than what we think who are Democrats, and a few who may be Independents, Greens, or whatever. Christianity is accepting Jesus Christ as personal Lord and Savior, not one's party affiliation or who they vote for. Nowhere in the Bible does it talk about your political party.

True Christians should be Republicans?!?! but are Democrats really better.......hmmm.....you have that Republican Idaho Senator, Larry Craig, who solicits sex in a men's bathroom, Republican Florida Congressman, Mark Foley who goes after underage interns, and Republican Louisiana Senator David Vitter who sleeps w/multiple New Orleans prostitutes.....hmmm......but I guess we can flip that Democrat NY Governor Eliot Spitzer sleeps w/lots of prostitutes too, Democrat California Congressman Gary Condit may've been involved in the disappearance of Chandra Levy as well as the vanishing of clear Pepsi. And married Democratic New Jersey Governor appointed his 'boyfriend' to a high level position in his office. My point is politicians pound for pound and more than half the time are the same thing-dirtbags. I don't know much about the Christian view on this one as I'm not very religous but I do know that no matter what party you are with, you are probably screwed one way or the other.

People usually assume that I'm a lapsed protestant from Canada who never attended church anyway and used to be a centre-right big C conservative but now votes Green because of the appallingly poor offering of leadership from the mainstream parties. How cliche is that?
UPDATE:
I've learned to hate DemocratsAll through my whole lifeAnd come the electionIt's them we must fightTo hate them and fear themTo run and to hideAnd accept it all bravelyWith God on my side.

Wrong assumption. There are Christians in all parties.

I think Christianity should be left out of politics, I don't believe, not for a second that our president is Christian-I might add. A true Christian can be anyone that recieves Christ, and believes His Gospel of Grace.

. . .substitute 'protestant' for 'true' and you might be in the ballpark. . .

How the pendulum does swing. It was not too long ago when the Solid South was the mainstay of the Democratic Party, and if you weren't a supporter of Truman, Stevenson, JFK and LBJ, you weren't a good Christian. How did the Democrats manage to lose this vital support group?

they may just not have a political view. but Republican doctrine typically falls more in line with Christian beliefs than being a Democrat would.

Religion and politics don't go together!

God doesn't like the partisan thing or denominations, for that matter...

I'm sure God is having a good laugh with this one.

If you watch televangelists, you'd probably see that 99% of them are Republican, and tell their congregations, in so many words, that if they aren't Republican, they arent Christian. Lately I've become sickened by the whole bickering between Republican and Democrat. I just consider myself more a conservative.

NO, even though I am a republican now I used to be a democrat and I still felt close to Christ. :)
