 | danielboone1 (0) 07/29/2007 | The Daniel Boone Home & Booesfield Village is probably the most historic site in the Midwest. Not only can you can visit the Daniel Boone Home, but also his brother Squire Boone's Home, his son-in-law Flanders Callaway Home, The Zephaniah Sappington/John Dressel Home and at least 12 other historic buildings. Special events are held throughout the year, living historians populate the village and are available to answer questions and demonstrate period crafts. The Boone Home is easy to get to, from Highway 40, take Highway 94 south to Highway F, turn right and travel 5 miles, the Boone Home is on the left. It is no more than a 1 hr. drive from anywhere in St. Louis, MO. There is no cafe, but there are cold drink machines on the site. I recommend the Annual 1800's Candlelight Christmas tours, not to be missed, held on 3 Fri. and Sat. nights before Christmas. Call for information: (636) 798-2005 - Highly recommended for anyone interested in the history of the United States and the Boone family.

The sole problem is getting there, It's not far from St Louis as the crow flies, but to get there youi must weave thru a maze of old country backroads. Few signs to show the way make it easy to get lost.
