I have been to the Catskills and traveled through the Borscht Belt.

I really like borscht served piping hot with brown, rye bread and sour cream that you put INTO the soup!

I have had Russian, German-Russian and Jewish borscht, and each has a difference and each is great.

A strange but intriguing-souding 'belt', and one I'd never heard of before (thanks for the tip, Ridge). From the Wikipedia entry:

Borscht Belt is an informal term for the summer resorts of the Catskill Mountains in Sullivan and Ulster Counties in upstate New York which were frequented by Ashkenazi Jews. Borscht is a kind of beet soup popular with people of Eastern European origin.
