I like mary and enjoyed her sense of humor. I was difficult to see her go blind.And I dont agree with some of the comments on this but I think Mary Ingalls Kendallwas very good and smart. She was not too go and did mind nothing was funny about what she went thourgh there could never be a nicer person. Melissa Sue Anderson couldn have played a better role.

I like Mary. she was intent on always doing the right then. if she messed up no one was harder on her than herself.  sometimes she was a too much of a goody. but she was decent. since I read the books as  a kid I wondered if they would make her blind eventually. they did but took a lot of liberties by having her get married.

I say Mary was a real trouper in every situation that came her way. Melissa Sue Anderson's portrayal of her was top-notch.

In later episodes when Mary became blind, Melissa Sue was very convincing in this part she played. She was next in line after Michael Landon as far as acting goes.
