Although he wasn't an actor to begin with, his acting was not bad at all and only a couple of times became embarrassing -when required to cry!!!, he was best at playing it happy.

wonderful friend, father and husband. I loved Jonathan Garvey more than anyone else

Jonathan Garvey was a good loyal friend, who, like Edwards, proved his friendship and loyalty time after time. He was a good addition to the show despiet the fact that the actor that played him, Merle Olsen,  was, ...well, not much of an actor. Still it was a simple role and I'm sure much of his own personality worked it's way into the role of Garvey.
