Also called John Jr., he was book-smart and also an aspiring poet. He was even Mary's boyfriend before she went blind. Then he was written off the show as going away to school, and wasn't long before he faded out of the picture. A few years later, his character passed away, with a couple of storylines depicting his father Isaiah Edwards and his rocky struggles in coping with his death.
