I think I've heard of a church.

There's an older, fairly expansive cemetery in Totowa, NJ, that has (or at least used to) a sunrise service in the cemetery on Easter morning. I was always halfway tempted to go, but never did. Although the cemetery is hard on the Paterson border, it has some scenic and even beautiful areas, and I imagine the rosy/orange light of dawn could be breathtaking here, depending on what part of the cemetery you're in (there's a chapel in the middle of the cemetery and I have to assume the Easter service is held there, or just outside of it). Still, in view of my agnosticism, I've never been fond of going to midnight Mass on Christmas Eve (I was talked into it once by friends...mistake...never again), and I'm not eager to awake in the pre-dawn of Easter (or any other day, for that matter) and drive in the dark to a cemetery in Totowa (no disrespect intended towards those who are so inclined).

Don't get me wrong, going to church on Easter is something I always do, and that I think is Extremely important. However, I don't think I've ever attended a service that would qualify as being extremely early morning. I either attend the fairly lengthy Easter Vigil Mass the night before, or a mid-morning Mass on Easter morning.

Weirdly enough, the church I attend is called Sonrise.

Not my cup of tea to get up that early for services but to each his own!!

I know that for some going to church on Easter is a must. the churches are filled on this day. this is fine for them. got to admit I am not one of those pew fillers on Easter day. I will say a prayer tomorrow. but will admit I do not give a huge attention to Easter as others may.

Thanks again, IJR, for the Sonrise suggestion. I have been to Easter Sonrise services before, and I think they are beautiful.
