My dogs don't seem to want to eat this food. The ingredients look good, but I'm guessing that it doesn't taste good. I have four dogs, and none of them want to eat this food. I left out two bowls of food, Avoderm & Kirkland. None of the dogs ate the Avoderm, they only ate the Kirkland. In fact, one of my dogs took his paw and tipped the dish of Avoderm over so it spilled all over the ground. He only does that with things he doesn't like.

my 3 dogs have been on this for about 1.5 months and my maltipoos tearing is gone! but she and my older dogs don't really like it. the food stay in the bowl for 2 days before I put some more in or if I put some chicken juice or some meat in. My maltipoo puppy tho, just picks the meat out. Getting really frustrated about what to feed her. she doesn't like any kibbles I buy. She did try ziwipeek and liked it ,but very expensive and hard to find. I just want them to love the Avoderm because its good food and price. worried they don't eat enough. I put in half of what the daily intake should be and still stays in bowl for at least 2 days. I sneak in some hotdogs or sweet potatoes and some chicken. older chowmix are on adult chicken and rice and maltipoo on smallbreed puppy chicken. one bag have lasted for 2 months for my maltipoo. Company is great, they send coupons and I got a free bag from the vendor at dog show.

I have a 2 yr old Great Dane, She loves the Dry food, and it has helped improve her coat, The can she won’t eat it. The only thing I wish is that they had a Grant breed formula, so I would not have to mix in another dry food so she would get all the right nutrients for her size.

Well I have a 4 year old female rat terrier and a 3 year old male mix pointer and welch corgi, i used to feed them Eukanuba which i thought it was the BEST out there, but i got a message from the store where i purchase it and there was a recall due to Salmonella, so i research on the back of the bag the ingredients and i was not happy with the results! ** The Association of American Feed Control Officials (AAFCO)** i spent a couple of hours at the pet store looking for a proper, safe and most of all nutricious food for my dogs. Finally at the end of the dog food isle i found AvoDerm, which the main ingredient is avocado!! -- i did purchase a small bag of AvoDerm Natural for small breed and it has small bite size kibble to see if they would like it. well i got home and feed them my male ate his entire thing!! and with my terrier she smell it had a bit of it, walked away and came back and finish her entire bowl!! she sat and looked at me wagging her tail so i feed her some more and she... I have tried several brands for my dogs, including Blue Buff brands and Natural Balance. Avoderm is the only one both of my dogs love! My Jack Russell eats it up! Both of my pups have icthy skin, and this food has completely solved that issue. Easy clean-up in the yard too! I highly recommend this food to everyone! My golden retreivers' coat is beautiful!

I switched my 3 yr o Siberian Husky from Beneful to Avoderm dry dog food after reading how many artificial ingredients and food coloring are in Beneful. Needless to say, the entire way home from the pet store my dog (the pickiest eater EVER) was sniffing the bag relentlessly. When I gave it to him, he ate it so furiously that he was pushing the bowl around afterwards. I had NEVER seen him react like that to a dry dog food. Also, within weeks his coat was soft like a puppy's! He also had a problem with hot spots before- constantly nipping at himself sometimes to the point of yelping. Since switching the nipping has pretty much ELIMINATED ITSELF! His breath smells better, and his bathroom habits are smoother- his legs used to shake real bad upon going #2 that stopped too. Its also worth the extra $$$ because since I switched my baby is so much healthier looking and actually eats LESS than he used to because its so nutrient dense. Excellent choice!

Since switching to Avoderm's lamb and brown rice formula mixed with cans of Avoderm wet food, my elderly Dalmatian has had a huge turnaround. He was shaking, had diarrhea, and was not acting himself at all until I made the change (I was crying every day about it). Now we are both happy. Will be interested to see how he fares over the summer, skin allergies are a horrible problem this far south. Oh, and I knew he would take to it. When he was a pup he stole an avocado out of the grocery bag and all of it was gone but the seed within minutes. I do not believe avocados are toxic for dogs b/c both of mine thrive on an occasional "guacamole" treat.

As for the Avocados being toxic, only the ASPCA says this and they are "funded" by the large pet food companies. Dogs in hawaii eat avocados that fall to the ground and never have issues. My dog eats the Baked Lamb and Brown Rice formula. He was having diarhea on Blue Buffalo (I think Blue Buffalo is great for some dogs but didn't work for mine). His first food was Eukanuba Naturally Wild (was recalled). When I switched to the Avoderm his stool within 3 days was normal again. The fact that this company hasn't had any recalls also impresses me since Breeder's Choice been around over 60 years. I would recommend this to anyone with a dog who has skin or stool problems. The only real drawback is the price of the baked formula. My dog didn't like the taste of the extruded Lamb Meal and Rice, but loves the taste of the baked.

i have a 11yo chihuahua/rat terrier mix with addison's disease. since he cannot eat wheat/soy/or corn i decided to give Avoderm a try - based on the ingredients. my dog loves it and he has perfect stool now with no diarrhea at all. i do put a tiny bit of "sawdust chicken" with it to tempt his tastebuds (he is very picky). he is full of spunk and acts like a puppy. and i can finally get a good night's sleep.

I bought two cans of avoderm canned(lamb and brown rice) to try I was very disappointed when I opened the can there was at least a half inch of lard at the top of the can and the rest of the food was basically the consistency of mashed potatoes. So was the second can. Also tried the baked lamb and brown rice, not that impressed it really increased the volume of my dogs stool and they were much softer. I think I'll stick with my other feeding arrangement.

I have two rough coat Blk and Tan Brussels Griffon who love dry AvoDerm! (I add a sprinkle or two of cinnamon to their food b/c I read that it keeps fleas and ticks away-It makes their breath smell like oatmeal raisin cookies too!) Any who, their coats are super shiny and soft! My male had itchy skin and rashes all the time and now that has totally ceased. My female's coat has totally changed. Her coat is gorgeous now! I have noticed that their eyes look super glossy and clear too. Their stool is perfect! It is actually is better than ever before! I am a big dog food snob and I am very very pleased with AvoDerm!

My mini dauchsund has had a bumpy, itchy rash for a year and a half (most his life). I took him to the vet for meds but decided I didn't want him on meds his whole life, so I searched for food and found AvoDerm. It worked like a miracle on his itchy bumps, but his stool was very soft and he even had to go in the middle of the night. He would also act like he couldn't get finished pooping. So, regretably I'm swithing back to his old food, but I'm doing half and half for a while to see if it'll still help and make his poop more firm without any middle of the night visits to the restroom. If it wasn't for that it would get a 5 star rating from me, but instead it gets a 4 star. UPDATE: We went back to his other food but his itchy bumps got worse so we switched him back to AvoDerm. His poop finally firmed up and his itchy bumps got better too. We're keeping him on AvoDerm. We've also upgraded to 5 stars.

We have 2 American Labs that are now two years old! We started them on Wellness Puppy dry food but as they got older we began Avoderm dry. Its been great! We did try the baked early on but they did much better on the regular Avoderm so we have stuck with that. My female yellow lab has a beautiful coat which is soft to the touch and she is never itchy (unless she needs a bath)! My brown lab had some skin problems when we got him from the humane society but now his hair is shiny shiny shiny! The best thing also is they are very regular they go poop 1 time in the morning after breakfast and 1 time in the evening after dinner. NO LOOSE STOOLS OR ACCIDENTS since they were puppies. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

I bought AvoDerm because my breeder was feeding it to my puppy but she really doesn't take to it very well. I have to doctor up the kibbles with homemade chicken broth and chicken bits to get her to eat them. But have to say she has no digestion and bathroom issues to speak of. I am also concerned about the use of avocado since it is toxic to dogs! I plan to switch to another high quality organic food that will be more palatable for her...

My puppy started off with Science Diet Large Breed for puppies, but over time I noticed he was itching his under arms raw and thought it was due to something in the environment like the laundry detergent. Anywho, after reading that Corn wasn't great for dogs I switch him to Chicken Soup for the Puppy Lover's soul and he kept on itching and I had cleared out any outside allergens I could think of? Well it turns out my puppy had Demodex. I switched the food again because I notice my puppy's coat was getting dull from the chicken soup. With medication from the vet and AvoDerm Natural Chicken Meal & Brown Rice Puppy Food the itching has stopped. It couldn't be the medication because as you know demodex mange takes a while to treat, but after the full transition to AvoDerm I could tell a HUGE difference in my puppy's coat. I was shiny and smooth. Granted he still has his small bald spot from the mange, but as least the itching stopped and his hair isn't falling out in sections. I think Av... Read more

I was using Nutra Lamb & Rice formula but switched to Avoderm Lamb & Brown Rice Oven Baked Formula after the negative press Nutra was getting. Darla's coat is very healthy and shiny. She has had a lot of issues with other foods, (i.e. dermatitis, vomiting, horrific gas), but she seems to be doing quite well with Avoderm. Overall, I am very pleased.

I've just started on Avoderm lamb pellets. My dogs love them . have finished 2 packs of 5lbs bags. However today my 3 yrs old maltese is suddenly lethargic. she didnt greet me when i came home and she is not even getting out of bed. She even seem to have problem walking! (my 3 yrs old italian greyhound is fine. ) when i was cleaning their doggy dish with a few pellets left, i found some black bugs. they look like weevils. I opened the new bag i bought and found more weevils like bugs in it too! im not sure if its the bugs thats making my maltese sick. im very concern. im taking my dog to the vet tomorrow and the 15lbs bag of food back to the pet shop. i am sorely disappointed.

My 3 year old Mountain Cur, Lilly, was having problems, for reasons unknown, eating Nutro. Talked to folks at Red Bandana who recommended the oven baked Avoderm to the steam processed Nutro. Made sense. Lilly eats it like there's no tomorrow!! Hope she keeps it up. I'm so relieved she's satisfiying her hunger.

This is good value for $$$. I am feeding my 2 dogs on the normal Lamb and rice. Much cheaper than Timberwolf, my dogs will finish up the bowl without me hand feeding them. I mixed this kibbles with tripett Venison. Skin and coats seems better.

Great food for my German Shepard. We have tried other "Better" dog foods and they all give her constant gas. This food actually smells good and she seems to like it better than anything else. We got our in laws German Shepard on this also, she wont eat dry kibble but she eats this like its going out of style!

After my growing puppy has had bad bouts of gas because of Ultra Nutro .AvoDerm Puppy Chicken Meal and Rice formula. Within just a few days her gassy problem had disappeared within a few more days her outside trips to the bathroom became less frequent. I really like this brand however, she doesn't eat it as if she likes the taste. She waits until she's very hungry and then she eats. With Ultra she ate it with enthusiasm and went through way more of it then she does with the AvoDerm. I will try other premium brands until She likes the taste as well as it also performing in nutrition .I would recommend this for dog owners who want a dog food that is a real " Premium Dog Food" but that is not a picky eater. Another convenient feature about the dog food is that it comes with a zip lock stay fresh opening and closing device to maintain freshness.

What about the Avocados? they are toxic to dogs and I know they say they use only the oil and some meal without the pit or skin, but can we realy trust them? every time theres a good food on the market it gets bought up by some big comp. and they make changes to the formula usualy causing problems for our dogs, I have recently switched to Brightlife Canine formula seems to have better meat content and I feel safer with out the avocados even though never realy had any problems with Avoderm.

AvoDerm Natural Oven-Baked formulas for your dog are slow-cooked, nutritionally dense, easy to digest, and made with vitamin rich avocados for healthy skin and coat. Why oven-baking? The oven-baking process takes a little longer than regularly prepared dog food, but the slow-cooking process keeps the integrity of all fine ingredients fully intact.

Overall a better choice than many more of a 3 1/2 star so it gets 3 here. This site needs a 6 star or 10 star rating system for things like this. Decent meats with okay ingredients. A better choice than all the National Supermarket types. Could use more meats to move up.

Dry food: Great real food ingredients; no bad ingredients. The weight control one has more grain than meat and fewer calories. My 4 dogs love it.
