This food was recommended by my shiba inu's breeder and by our husky's breeder, and they were both right --- after experimenting with some other foods, including no grain ones, we're happily back on Eagle Pack. Our husky was healthy on Eagle Pack for 11 years before she passed. Our shiba's coat is much softer and shinier than it was on Orijen, and he actually likes his food, which isn't so easy to come by. The Anchovie and Sardine formula seems to be the favorite, with duck as a close second. Great product!

Update: ever since switching my dogs to grain free foods, they turn their nose at Eagle Pack. I think it is still a good food, but there are much better things on the market now. My dogs look and smell fabulous on grain free, and both are very healthy.

Switched my dobe from a crappy commercial brand to Eagle Pack Holistic Select. He had been wormed, but when he was on his previous food he began to look emaciated although he was eating more than the recommended portions daily. His feces were very runny not to mention he was pooping more than he was ingesting. 2 days after switching brands, he began pooping less and looked as though he was gaining weight! He doesn't scarf down his food as if he's starved and is actually eating close to the normal amount for a puppy his age. Great dog food!

My senior samoyed age 14 had some bloodwork drawn that showed she has mild renal disease. Nothing serious. I researched diets with low phosphorous and low calcium and discovered Eagle Pack Holistic Duck & Oatmeal. She is allergic to chicken. Great results. It is easily digested, her coat is thick and beautiful and her vet thinks she acts more like a 6 year old. We rotate her diet with other premium foods... Rose gives it 4 paws up!!!

Pet nutritionists all liked this food. I have learned that not only quantities, but ratios of nutrients are important. This food got great reviews from all the experts i talked to.

However-

Even though I tried to gradually introduce this food into my dog's diet, he had some..ahem..... problems. A few weeks of less than solid stools were becoming a concern. But i feel the great nutrition offsets a few unpleasant weeks for the fuzzy ones...

I wouldn't feed it to my guy if i thought there were something better out there!!

Good ingredients, great price, excellent results. The best value for the price in dog food that I've come across. As for grain in dog food, big whoop. It's not like it's chock full of corn or soy. The minimal amount the food does contain--oat bran, oatmeal, brown rice, flax seed--only adds to the needs of any carnivore, as wild canines eat end-trails and guts of prey which contains those herbivorous ingredients needed for proper nutrition and digestion. I also like the fact the food is made in the USA with ingredients purchased within the US--not from the Chi-coms.

I have been feeding Holistic Select to my dog (a corgi mix) for about 3 years, currently the Senior Dry formula. He has a beautiful coat, is very healthy, firm stool (and thankfully, not a lot to clean up). Highly recommended.

We started feeding our Bullmastif this food, and he has thrived on it. His coat has become softer. He used to have a problem with mange, and the vet bills were getting expensive to keep it under control. Someone suggested this food, and his mange is now gone! We used to feed him BilJac, but we are sold with Eagle Pack Holistic.

Eating Eagle Pack's Holistic Select with Lamb has elliminated my English Mastiff's yeast infection throughout her body. 7 months (1 month for each of her 7 years) after starting her new diet, she is free of the allergies, the itching, the sudden upset stomachs, and long bouts of diarrhea. Each month showed significant changes in her health. Vet visits have dropped down to her regular visits only. What a great result!

I have fed my three dogs eagle pack holistic select for two years and they all love it. they are happy and healthy- even my vet is amazed at how healthy they are! (they are a Catahoula, 10 years; a Plotthound, 12 years, and a Chow mix 15 years). i attribute their longevity and health to great food and nutrition. DO NOT SWITCH YOUR DOG QUICKLY TO A NEW FOOD. you must gradually mix in a new food over the course of a few weeks. additionally, if you have been feeding your dog a poor diet, your dog may experience a period of detoxification (just like people) as their body purges the toxins accumulated from lesser quality foods. this could include vomiting and diarrhea. switching food GRADUALLY will lessen these effects. there is no short cut to switching foods. please do not switch to ANY food quickly! if you do want to switch your dog's food, eagle pack holistic select has been a great choice for me.

I feel that the previous 2 posters are "spammers" that haven't even tried the food and are bringing the rating for this food down!  You should only post for a food, if your dogs have eaten it!  Eagle Pack is a great company and they make some great food!  I know because my 3 dogs have eaten this food for about 3 months now and are doing fantastic! Thanks Eagle Pack!

Both of my greyhounds are doing beautifully on eagle pack holistic large/giant breed kibble. My older grey who is a scavanger has finally stopped cleaning the yard! My pup(started him at 9months) has improved coat and is has the nutrition needed to build muscle and a greyt coat. It takes a while to see results, but well worth a shot.

Love it. I used to feed my labrador Timbe Wolf but they kept increasing their price until it wasn't affordable. I switched to Eagle Pack Holistic and my dog loves it. He doesn't scratch, itch, shed much and his poops are perfect. He stays lean with this food and his coat is nice and shiny. This food even has a higher rating than Timberwolf. I will continue to use this food as long as the prices stay affordable.

I've been feeding Eagle Pack Holistic Lamb and Rice for over 10 years -- breeds varying from Springer to Fila Brasileiro to rescue racing greyhounds to belgian malinois. It's been awesome. I am only looking around right now because I have a rescue Malinois that has up to 8 bowel movements a day and I am tired of waking up to clean up poop. 9 of my dogs have thrived on this food. Just my new little Pooper needs another.

We feed it to our dogs and the rescue dogs and have had nothing but positive results. For those with issues in switching foods remember to switch gradually. Although, we have never had a problem switching to Eagle Pack Holistic. We just wish that Eagle Pack had a feeding program for non profit rescues!!

Eagle Pack is not a good food. I tried my dog on it and he wouldn't touch the stuff! He did this for two nights straight. I read the ingredients and was appalled! He finally started to eat it and his coat became dull and his skin was itchy.

It took a long time to find a food that my older dog really likes and provides all the nutrition he needs. My other dog has allergies and he thrives on Eagle Pack. His coat is not grown in and shiny. Both dogs love the variety of foods.

My dog has a weight problem. I have started giving him Eagle Rock Holistic Select Natural Dog Treats, over 90% duck. The question is how many calories are in each bite size piece? If This is not the correct site to find the answer maybe you could forward this email.
Thanks,

our dogs were on eagle pack holistic for over a year but suddenly our dane/lab mix began vomiting and had bloody diarrhea ... it was horrible! we can not be sure if it was the dog food but our vet seems to think it is (or at least she says she sees more gastro problems with organic foods). don't know what to do! i really don't want to feed my dog science diet.

This brand seems reasonable. But Since it is Petlands' Brand I will never buy this again. My vet says Science Diet is a reputable brand and that I it would be good to give it to my cats and dogs. I asked for a premium brand for a reasonable price and this is what she recommended.

Does everyone realize that you can't just "switch" your pets food from one feeding to the next? Your pets have a very sensitive digestive system, unlike their human companions. They do not tolorate change well at all. For everyone who has switched foods and then left a bad review, I challenge you to try this method and then repost after a few days/weeks: start out by mixing a small amount of the new food with your current brand of food. Gradually increase the amount of new and reduce the amount of your current brand until you have gone from 100% current to 100% new. If your pet still has problems, then yeah, maybe it is the food but if not, it was the method in which you introduced that food to your pet. I realize some pets just dont do well on certain food but for the majority of pets it is perfectly OK to switch their food as long as it isn't a sudden swap. It HAS to be a gradual change. I hope those who are considering changing to a holisic brand, or any other brand for that matter, consider what I just said. Their pet will thank them for it! I promise!!!

By the way, my rating isn't relevent to the brand in question...I left a neutral rating to avoid sounding biased.

I have fed Eagle Pack Holistic Select Duck Meal & Oatmeal Formula and Lamb Meal & Rice Formula without my dog experiencing any problems.  Afterwards, I tried Wellness Lamb Super5Mix based on good reviews given, but my dog experienced loose stools that smelled terribly and bouts of gas.  My dog is now on Eagle Pack Holistic Anchovy, Sardine, and Salmon Meal Formula, which I plan to keep him on, and, he hasn't experienced any problems.  In addition, they have regular promotions where if you buy one bag (any size) you get a 5lb bag for free.

Excellent food! Feed the Duck and Oatmeal to a fussy dog that has turned down the most expensive natural brands. Do not agree with the regular old Eagle Pack even though it has higher protein. They use corn in it. Bad bad bad. She doesnt fart all the time anymore, get the runs anymore, and her coat is amazing. Highly advise this food. I tried to pic of pic of my dog with this but it put it up high someplace... O well...

I am giving this product only three stars right now.  I have only started using the dry senior formula.  I have researched the product and the safety history of its production.  I am pleased.  So far my dog likes it, no up set in transition, and the nutritional values are excellent.
