01/27/2008 | I'm surprised with Greg Olsen. Blocking takes drive and effort. You can teach blocking (but you can't teach players how to grow). I was surprised how bad Olsen did this year. He looked out of place and didn't show the type of hands he really has. Olsen has the ability to be one of the most consistant tight ends in the league, he can be better than Dallas Clark (who didn't look any better his first year, either). If he get's comfortable and keeps his head on football when it's football time he'll be fine.

04/30/2007 | The Bears had a lot of selections, which is obviously good for helping depth. Although I don't agree with all of their choices. Greg Olsen was the #1 tight end in the draft, but he isn't a very physical blocker. That doesn't seem to fit with Chicago's style, although he will give Rex Grossman a decent weapon in the passing game. I also think their pick of Garret Wolfe from Northern Illinois is a suspect pick. With his small stature he might be best used as a third down back, but the Bears probably could use a bigger back to help Cedric Benson carry some of the weight left by Thomas Jones' departure. Reports are also stating that their 2nd round choice of Dan Bazuin was a reach.
