King, who primarily played at the corner infield positions from the late 80's to the late 80's with Pittsburgh and Kansas City, took quite a while to get going. He did have some years in the mid 90's with power, and hit 30 homers one year, but really had only about 3 decent to good seasons out of 10 or 11. The Pirates could have taken Gary Sheffield, Kevin Brown, or Matt Williams instead.
