 | oscargamblesfro (86) 05/01/2007 | Around this time, the Mets were pretty bad, most of the players on the powerful team of the mid to late 80's had either retired or gone elsewhere. Wilson, Bill Pulsipher, and Jason Isringhausen were three young arms who were supposed to be the saviors of the franchise. Pulsipher had a brief career as a fringe player with various clubs. Isringhausen eventually developed into a solid closer with the A's and Cardinals. Wilson was a below average starter who seemingly always had a losing record and gave up a lot of homers with the Reds, he's out of the big leagues now I believe. Isringhausen was the only one of the three to become an above average hurler, so clearly The Mets plan didn't come to fruition.
