I am not sure Lucas had it in mind to continue the series, but I guess after the exorbitant success of Star Wars, it would have been almost like murder not to continue. And so, Lucas submerged himself in his brilliant mind and came up with this spectacular sequel, nothing to envy from the first one. Furthermore, the set was staged for a third sequel which has caused great anxiety in the expectancy of its release. Freezing Han Solo in the carbonite module was probably as painful to him as it was for us when we were plunged in a desperate waiting period for the continuation of the story.

A decent film, but a big step down from the first movie in the series. The rot of pretension can start to be seen.

The follow up. The bad kick in the nuts. Act 2, where it all goes to hell. Still the best of the series in my opinion.
