The tourist traps aren't just in Orlando proper. Billed as a natural theme park, you'll pay a whopping $32.99 per adult (as of Oct 05) admission to see natural springs from glass bottom boats along with some kitschy shows and a B level concert if one is playing. Nature should never cost so much and you can see the same wonderful natural springs by going to nearby Silver River State Park ($4.00 per car load) and launching out on a personal kayak or canoe (rentals will soon be available). If you're not inclined to do it yourself and feel you have to do the 'theme' park, there are discount programs and coupons that will lighten the impact to your wallet, but you'll still wonder how people can charge so much for seeing a natural attraction.

This place is very special. You won't get the overly crowded "tourist" feeling. The grounds are beautiful, and there are many exotic animals to see. It's a relaxing change from the busy major attractions. Even the youngest children will enjoy this day. The gift shop is reasonably priced (everyone gets a t-shirt!) If mom and dad are looking for a quiet, educational and fun day this is your kind of place.

First of all Silver Springs is no where neer Orlando, its about 90 miles north. This is a nice place to spend an afternoon with the kids, not much in the way of commercial attractions. But if you are into nature this is the place for you. The best way it see the springs is by boat, your own boat. Where the pure water of the springs meets the merckey water of the Oklawaha you go from a steight line of clear water to black. The wildlife is right out of a Tarzan movie, and why not Tarzan was filmed here. A really beautifull place if you can get away from the crowds and know where to go. My parents lived near hear for years.
