I did not like this incarnation of the Doctor and I wasn't too crazy about his companion either. His companion's name was Rose. At the end of the first episode titled 'Rose', Rose singlehandedly defeated the Nestenes.

The Nestenes are a powerful alien race who have been colonizing planets and committing genocide for a billion years. There was no way that a human being and especially not a teenager could defeat this race.

The Doctor is the one who's supposed to save the day. Not his companion. When this happened, it made the Doctor look pathetic. It didn't help this show's image either.

Since 1984 I've been a big Doctor Who fan. But I wasn't a fan of this episode. This episode ticked me off. I regretted watching it. The new Doctor Who show didn't get off to a good start.

This would have worked, except for the whole problem of her getting trapped in an alternate universe with no way of returning.
