Such a sad, but fascinating country.I spent a year in this place on a compound in the eastern half of the country not too far from Kabul. Most of the folks today are not living much better than their ancestors lived over 200 years ago and live in dried mud homes in little villages with no electricity or running water, unless they're lucky enough to have a battery for some power.
The Afgahns were for the most part a decent, hardworking humble people, but beware of the kids on the side of the road that beg you for food, pencils, paper, etc.
