I've only spent time in Bruges and can't speak for the rest of Belgium, except what little I saw from the freeway, hence my rating. (The Belgians make some great beer though.) Bruges is an exceptionally beautiful, canal-based, well-preserved, medieval city (chartered in 1128). The historic center is now just a small part of the larger city, but it's the reason Bruges is a tourist attraction. In addition to sightseeing, there's lots to do culturally . Not to be missed if you get over there.

It really is as dull as the stereotype- except for Bruges and Liege, which are quite nice. Being the battlefield of Europe for the last 500 years hasn't helped the tourist trade.
