 | GenghisTheHun (168) 01/02/2008 | This was big in the middle 1970's, and I was not into country radio in those days. I am now as I get older.
I never really listened to this song until recently. I was going through my storage and found a cache of Marty Robbins 33 1/3 LP's, and one was "El Paso City" with this song on it.
I used my trusty ION player and transferred them into my computer and thence to my IPod.
"El Paso City" is basically a song about Marty's song, "El Paso" from 1959. In "El Paso City," Marty is retracing the steps of the jealous cowboy who shot the stranger, who was dancing with Felina, in the 1959 song. Marty is flying over the area at the time he is thinking about the 1959 song. That is a different and nice touch.
If you liked Marty and you liked the song, "El Paso", you will like this song.
