They are a very underrated band, which is a shame. The lyrics are self-deprecating, sometimes humorous, but always intriguing. "Alligator" is the best album they put out, followed by "Boxer." They write songs that can be considered growers.

The National are everything a great band should be, and so much more. Their last two albums have been among the musical highlights in their respective release years. Amazing band...

These guys are failed dot commers out of NYC, who started the band when their dot com bubble burst. They have a pretty good sound - sort of the same genre as Killers / She Wants Revenge.
