I will not bad mouth Mormons because I have met some very nice Mormon people, but I will say this: I do not believe the way they do in any way, shape or form. I used to study with the Mormons when I was a teenager, and I'm sure glad I got out of it.I am a Christian who believes in Jesus Christ. I believe in the Holy Bible, which doesn't need any "extra testaments" like the Book of Mormon offers.

It's not really an evil religion, like many Christian faiths out there, but it is weird. This Joseph Smith and the golden tablets (that have never been seen) is more than I can buy, unless I just wanted to be one of them and delude myself into accepting it. There must be an appeal because they seem to be a growing force in the world. The sad thing is that they are about as politically conservative as can be. On the other side of the coin, I know some Mormons and they're amazingly nice for being so deluded.

A cult employing nearly as much science fiction and fantasy as L. Ron's imaginative legacy. Has basically one thing in common with Christianity...the use of the name Jesus Christ. Unfortunately, by their own definition, this person has nothing at all to do with the biblical Jesus Christ. Speaking only of the belief and not the believers, I dislike it immensely and on so many levels.

No offence, but I wouldnt touch Mormonism with a Barge Pole. It's pretty creepy, and has alot of cults within it.

an interesting and fantastic twist on Christianity that produces yet another Christ cult. The only people who seem more confused about their ideal way of life than me is themselves. I'll upgrade their rating to OK because they seem to be the best producers of the MLM economic systems which I cherish, and their "traditional" advocacy of the institution of polygamy which I find consistent with the nature of humanity's sexual and psychological optimums is unmatched even if (by the portrayed examples) exaggerated and indulgently chauvinistic. I also favor their strong mistrust of government interference in spiritual matters. But I'm going to deduct a point because of their fundamentalists apparen reliance on isolationism and persistent use of horrible 19th century American pioneer fashion and technology.

I have a lot of mormon friends they are great people but on the religious aspect it isnt my cup of tea.I am not a fan of people telling me what is moral. I do however enjoy that they dont really have a hell more like an outer darkness. Oh and by the way not all mormons are polygamist..
Lisa45 06/09/2008
Once again a group who are decieved. God put away the old law and told us to live under the new law.

as long as polygamy and arrainged marriages are not practiced, I have nothing bad to comment on this belief system - however, the few "churches/sects" that do still practice that type of thinking, are deplorable and no better than pedophile's are

I used to work with some people who happened to be Mormon. They were all clean cut folks who came in early and worked hard. When we had a deadline, they and also friends of theirs came in and helped us out over the weekend so that we got all of our tasks accomplished. They were all fine upstanding young men and women who did not drink or smoke.

A very silly mish-mash of Christianity, Masonic lore, and bad science fiction. The founder of Mormonism, Joseph Smith was kick out of the Fraternal Order of Freemasons for clandestine activities. Armed with his knowledge of Masonic rite, the Holy Bible, and an active imagination Smith created Mormonism.

"another testament of Jesus Christ" they have enough. mormon is lower than christianity.

They are EXTREMELY confused as to what they believe in and deviate from eachother... make up your mind what you believe in and get your shit straigtht... nobody should be allowed to have 10-12 wives at a time. We are meant to do other things than this!

I have a friend who married into this faith. Hmmmmm... Nothing nice to say so.... It's a faith. It's not my place to judge though.
twansalem 05/28/2008
This religion has gained some respectability over the years, but if you look at the Mormonism of Joseph Smith, it's a little tough to take the whole concept seriously.
irishgit 05/28/2008
Aside from the occasional appearance of pairs of pasty white young men in cheap black suits at my door proselytizing about once a year, I've never knowingly met a Mormon. The ones who come to the door are pleasant enough (although its amusing to see a kid about 19 with a name tag saying "Elder Smith") and a lot easier to get rid of than Jehovah Witnesses.
I've read enough to understand that most of the recent newsworthy scandals involve splinter groups, widely divorced from the main church, but nonetheless, the tenets of the religion, such as I understand them, have no interest for me. As to the tenets of the splinter groups, well let me put it this way... I've been married twice, and am no longer. One wife at a time was plenty, thanks.
magellan 05/28/2008
The Mormons that I've met have all been super nice, super hard working, and super likable. Oddly, they seem to be surprisingly good basketball players as well, a quality which I admittedly overvalue. Sure some of their tenets are wacky, but which religion's aren't? I think if Mormonism was founded in the 700s and not the 1800s, Mormons would take a lot less flack.
CanadaSucks 05/18/2008
A true cult that demonstrates at least two big signs of cult status- (1) control or influence over your money and (2) control and influence over the sexual behavior of young women to make sure they don't learn to think for themselves and stay as breeders of the faith. Mormonism is simply a laughable branch off of Christianity- which is also a ficticious branch. And it's sure funny to listen to evangelical types call Mormonisms a 'cult' when clearly they're aren't many real, intellectual, or philosophical mirrors in said la casa de evangelical. . .
GenghisTheHun 05/18/2008
I got lucky. I had a group of Mormon minstrels wandering around here in the Hunnic Kingdom and I invited them in. I had Fido stand guard on them and made them sing some Mormon hymns. When I get my strength up, I will release to you, for your edification and enjoyment, videos of said Mormons singing.
I am sure you will thoroughtly enjoy them.
Mitch70 04/02/2008
This is the biggest most successful cult in existence today.
Chrisrianna 08/07/2007
If you believe that Jesus came to Joseph Smith in the 1800's and in Vermont and gave him a "Golden Bible" that nobody ever saw, then you are crazier then Joseph Smith.
Yogurt 06/03/2007
My belief is that this religion is a complete sham.
