 | CastleBee (81) 09/03/2007 | Once I thought there must be a kind of carpeting to fit just about any room. Over the years I've come to realize that while it may still work in some places in the home, carpeting is not the be all end all of floor treatments. In fact, I think it only works best in living areas, halls, stairs and bedrooms. It is hideous in kitchens and bathrooms - basically, anywhere you have running water and potential major spillage. It tends to also retain odors. Personally, I could deal with a house with really nice wood floors (laminent or slate in the kitchen or bathroom would also work) using rugs where I want to have warmth and color.
