05/08/2008 | "He told me enough, he told me you killed him."
"No, I am your father."
Even James Earl Jones thought Vader was lying when he read the line.

05/08/2008 | Not even the crew saw this coming. Even James Earl Jones didn't buy it when he dubbed it in post production. Classic jawdropper.

05/08/2008 | At least this scene is definately an iconic film moment (pretty much the defining moment of one of, if not the most, strongest film series to date). Heavily parodied, and well known to people who haven't even seen the films.

05/08/2008 | Although young, I can remember the tangible reaction in the movie theater. People gasped. I heard yells. There was a temporary vaccuum because people sucked all the oxygen out of the theater. I should probably make this a 4, but romantic memories cloud my reason. Everyone, everywhere knows this one and why it's important. . .Vader is (along with Nurse Ratched) the greatest film villian ever. . .

05/08/2008 | Given the very heavy borrowing from Greek (and other)mythology in the story-line, it wasn't entirely unexpected, although it is certainly memorable.

05/08/2008 | I don't believe anyone was not taken by surprise by such a dramatic revelation. Confusing at first (a mental review of everything that transpired before), it took some time to settle and accept. Indisputably, the most brilliant moment in the whole saga.

06/26/2007 | Although widely remembered as Vader's best line, I am more of a fan of 'I find your lack of faith disturbing'. This has the advantage of having the possibility of being used on atheists.
Also, the amount of terrible spoofs involving other relations than 'father' bring this down to four stars...
