One was a 1965 hit, a wistful ballad with good lyrics, his first hit single, that invited a lot of comparison with Dylan. It does have a Dylanesque feel, and Dylan was certainly a major influence on Donovan, as was Woody Guthrie and other leading folk artists. However, Donovan may have been derivative of Dylan at the start of his career, but he soon morphed into something quite different. The second version is from his 1969 Greatest Hits record, and is electrified and a little bit better in my view. There's some commercial out now that uses the original rendition.
