 | oscargamblesfro (76) 06/29/2007 | Carl Mays and Urban Shocker ( who was the greatest pitcher for the St. Louis Browns in terms of accomplishments with that team- I mean, he won 20 games 4 times in a row for them, they shoulda elected him mayor just for that) were in my opinion the best, better than Pennock and Hoyt, who were very good but I think they put the wrong 2 in the Hall. They had a veteran guy named Bob Shawkey who was a very good hurler they got when Connie Mack blew up his dynasty in the mid 1910's. Other than that to get an idea of the strength of this talented staff see the Red Sox of the prior decade- I'd liken the relationship between the Red Sox and the Yankees in this era to be something like that which England had with Ireland for hundreds of years...
