 | oscargamblesfro (75) 07/05/2007 | Very solid, the Dodgers hitters, like Jackie Robinson, Gil Hodges, Roy Campanella, Pee Wee Reese, and Carl Furillo were better and more notable than their pitchers were. In some respects they were similar to the Reds of twenty years later in that respect, and in other ways too. However, their staff, with guys like Don Newcombe, Carl Erskine, Preacher Roe, Johnny Podres, and others may have lacked a true all time #1, but Newcombe was a real ace in certain years like '56, and there were certainly quality arms here.
