They didn't quite have a true, all- time legend like The Giants had with Matthewson or the Cubs with 3 Finger Brown, but they had a lot of depth. Rube Waddell played with them early on, though he peaked with the A's later.Jack Chesbro later had a monster year with the team that became the Yankees in 1904, but although he was never as effective again, he was certainly more than the 1 year wonder he's unfairly tagged as by some. Vic Willis, a good hurler who won 20 or more numerous times, came over from the awful Boston Braves in the middle of the decade and re- established himself as a fine starter. Those three made the Hall. They had other fine pitchers like Deacon Phillippe, Jesse Tannehill, Babe Adams, and Sam Leever, who all had long and fruitful careers, and all of these guys that I've mentioned won , at least, well over a hundred games. An underrated staff from a great team of the era.
