Update: Big Baby got better this year and is looking like a great second round acquisition. Gabe Pruitt hasn't done much, but who cares with the results Boston got from their 2007 offseason. 6/26/2008 - Wow...look at my review of the Celtics draft from last year and look how wrong I was. Trading for Ray Allen was actually a brilliant move, and I completely disrespected the Celtics. Good thing I'm not Boston's GM. Glen Davis also played well in a very limited role.
6/30/2007 - The Celts picked Jeff Green with the fifth overal pick, and I thought that was an excellent pick. He is very well rounded and will make a great pro. However, they traded him away to Seattle with Wally and Delonte for Ray Allen. Ray Allen is 32...which isn't exactly young. That makes sense if the Celtics are pushing for a title, but they aren't even close to that level. Rebuilding with good young players like Delonte West and Jeff Green would be a good idea. Making a trade for an All Star who won't get your team past the 1st round of the playoffs isn't.

Big Baby may just be the steal of the draft, or a very, (literally), big bust.

I don't like it. Allen's had a fine career, but he's past his peak now, and the Celtics in the last couple of decades have gone from not only a hugely successful team to an almost invariably foul team, but from a clever team that made a lot of smart moves to frankly one of the dumbest teams in basketball.
