Update: This draft looks about the same to me between year one and year two. Noah isn't a star but a solid rotational guy, while the Bulls could have done worse than Gray with the 49th overall pick. 6/26/2008 - I'll knock the Bulls down from a 5 to a 4, probably because they had such a bad season. Noah had decent stats for his type of player, but did have trouble in the locker room in Chicago. Thats not a good sign for his career, but looking at the 07 draft results, I can't picture a better pick that the Bulls could have made. Curry didn't make the team, but Gray made some decent contributions off of the bench. Not a bad draft just one year out.
7/1/2007 - I think the Bulls did a great job of addressing their needs. They are already set with some great young scorers in Hinrich, Gordon, and Deng, so picking up a high energy guy to grab boards and play D is a smart move. Joakim Noah is a great athlete for his size, and despite his offensive weaknesses he can change a game with his presence. I see him having a Dennis Rodman type of impact because he is smart, team oriented, does the dirty work, and is a little bit crazy. I like each of Chicago's second round picks also. Aaron Gray was a good player in college who should be a good backup big man. He isn't a great athlete, but can be a contributor with points and rebound off of the bench. JamesOn Curry is a great offensive player, and he won't be called upon to be a star on this team. However, he might be a great guy to have on the bench to spark the team when another guy is having an off night.
