Update: I'm going to bump up the Wizards 2007 draft to a four because they did very well with two average picks. Nick Young averaged double digits in his second season, and is a respectable scoring option off of the bench. Dominic McGuire took advantage of injuries on the Wizards and improved a lot. He played 26 minutes a game and did a lot of things well, although his stats don't really show it. For a late 2nd round pick though he gave the Wizards some good production. 6/26/2008 - *** My rating for the Wizards will stay the same a year later. Nick Young did reasonably well for a mid 1st pick on an established team. He scored 7.5 PPG and shot pretty well. Dominic McGuire didn't excell, but he was a decent bench player for a 2nd round selection.
6/30/2007 - The Wizards always seem to have underwhelming drafts, and this years doesn't appear to be any different. Nick Young is a 2 guard, which means he can play alongside Gilbert Arenas in the back court. However, while he may be a contributor, I don't see him becoming a star. Their other choice, Dominic McGuire, seems like a tough player, but not a highly skilled one. He is listed at PF, and only weighs 220. With some of the weakest play at center with Brendan Haywood and Etan Thomas, I hoped the Wizards would address that in a better way.
