Love his show but, Oh God...what he eats can make you vomit! He actually ate the beating heart of a frog! Andrew Zimmern enlightens us as to what the rest of the world eats, which can be disturbing , especially to PETA members. He's a very interesting person but I personally don't consider him a chef. I've never seen him cook anything.

I like the guy. His show is similar to that of Anthony Bourdain-- the host travels to various countries and eats the local cuisine of the indigenous population, "food" which can cover the gamut from stuffed frogs to insects to lizards to eyeballs (as well as more conventional fare that Westerners will probably be a bit more comfortable with). I used to credit myself with having a cast-iron stomach, but watching some of the items that Zimmern gleefully consumes can actually cause me to shudder. Like Bourdain, he has immense stones when it comes to gastronomic experimentation, but he seems less sardonic than Bourdain, more light-hearted...which is not meant as a dig at Bourdain. I enjoy both shows; comparing which one is better is sort of like comparing Bear Grylls and Survivorman. They're both very good at what they do, very enthusiastic, and they both have helped create informative, entertaining shows.
