Of course I was a big fan of his since he was at Texas. Big bruising back.

Sayers, Brown, and Sanders are a shade higher, but credit the lister who put Cambell on this list. . .remember that awesome 15-yard run against the Rams when he actually ran so hard his jersey tore away? Remember that Ram he knocked backwards? That was simply scary to watch. . .

I agree with Irish and Oscar on this one, they pretty much said it all. You really never do hear about Earl Campbell any more.

This would be my guy.

Seemed unstoppable, running flat over defensive linemen and linebackers, and God help the cornerback who came up to contain.

I have seldom loved seeing a back run more than I loved watching this guy.

There have been better running backs, ones with more impressive numbers and longer careers, but this guy has- unjustly- faded from the public's collective memory. A running back who primarily played for Houston, a real bruiser, there were times when he was practically unstoppable. I mean, a horde of giants and ogres couldn't stop him. All of these guys were very good to great players, but although I'm not exactly a huge football enthusiast, preferring baseball and basketball over the sport, Campbell's name recognition certainly isn't where it should be...
