 | Automatt (35) 02/27/2008 | The Presidio is the former military base tucked beside the Golden Gate Bridge. It's a lovely place to bike or hike around. Unlike other parts of the city, there is plenty of places to park while you explore.

 | minkey (36) 01/29/2005 | First day I got in San Francisco I wandered into the Presidio, and I thought to myself - wtf is a forest doing in a city? Parks are one thing but a forest is pretty unique. I'm a big fan and go jogging there when I can. The air is crisp and smells like maple syrup to me. Pretty sweet golf course out there, and there's a bowling alley and some tennis and bball courts. Great for the average outdoorsman.

 | Munson (7) 01/03/2001 | The Presidio is a former army barracks and that in itself is nothing special. However, driving through the Presidio, you can follow part of the 49 mile drive which provides you with some absolutely spectacular views of the city and the coast-line. And, there are plenty of spots along the way to stop and take pictures or just relax.

 | magellan (164) 03/17/2000 | I love the Presidio. It is as peaceful as San Francisco is congested - as green as the city is urban. After living here for a little while, you really appreciate the SPACE that the Presidio enjoys. It smells nice, the views are nice, and the military buildings are non-obtrusive. Being a soldier doesn't sound so bad if I could be based here.
