Turned out to be a true hero in the end. I could go on for ages about Snape's self-sacrifice, broken heart and heroics, but I think Harry summed it up when talking to his son (Albus Severus) in the epilogue about the man he hated for so long... "You were named after two Hogwarts headmasters. One of them was a Slytherin, and he was one of the bravest men I ever knew". He is by far my favourite character.
