At this point, there are probably a few things we can all agree upon, when it comes to our current President:

1. He inherited quite a mess from the last occupant of the White House.

2. The general thrust of Obama's policies, as of now, are similar to the last administration. Here are some examples:

a. Big contracts are still going to favored government firms, whether it be for outsourcing military operations or for swine flu vaccines.

b. A major bill in Congress that would have audited the Federal Reserve's international currency transfers has been effectively gutted by the Democratic majority.

c. Credit card rates well over 50% still get mailed out to customers, despite Obama's major push for reform here.

d. The Federal Government's power continues to multiply as it continues to use the power of the Executive branch to implement policy over Congress. This after Obama criticized Bush and Cheney for advocating the theory of a "unified Executive Branch".

e. Bailouts are still going to the major banks at a high clip. Just the other day, the Treasury, in conjunction with the Fed, issues another multi-billion dollar low interest loan to Goldman Sachs.

f. Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan are continuing unabated.

g. Despite promises to repeal the excessive Patriot Act, Obama supports its reauthorization.

And we can go on and on.

At this point, Obama is in crisis management mode. Their thinking is that we can beat the economic crisis through an alphabet soup of tax incentives and government programs. It didn't work as well as the history books record during the Great Depression, and it isn't working today.

The net result of this is that Obama's poll numbers are in significant decline. Most polls now have him at around or below 50%, this from a high of about 75% after the inauguration. That's what happens when you overpromise and fail to deliver. If I were a part of Obama's political team, I'd be worried. Support from independents in particular is waning, and that will impact Obama's ability to get his program through Congress.

I don't think anybody even really knew who he was until he began campaigning for President.

He does not have experience, so don't vote for him.

Just another selection in the brand new 2008 Collector's Edition of Political Bobbleheads.  I'll bet the folks at Jib Jab, the late night guys and what's left of SNL are beyond cathartic as they gear up for the upcoming circus.  I don't plan to cast my vote his way but, if we do end up with him - we could do worse and, may already have achieved that anyway.  The real question in my mind is; if he wins, just what position will Oprah occupy in his cabinet?

I'm pretty sure this charismatic,corporate-owned politician will lose, but [based on some of the nonsense I'm reading here] it won't be because the American voter is intelligent, but because Hillary is the annointed one.

"He's a centrist!" - Not according to his voting record, when he bothered to vote. "He clearly states his positions." - He clearly states empty rhetoric. Stating what you want is not saying how you plan to do it and saying you want people to work together to come up with something is not a plan. Right now he's flying on the old standard of change. Change is sometimes good, but it has to be change in a clear direction that actually leads somewhere. Jimmy Carter was a candidate of change, and boy did he give it to us. After four years of Carter's changes, he was booted out.

I have to agree with Beloved.  I don't like the fact that he swore into office on the Koran or that he refuses to salute our flag!

I think the American public is too smart to let this style-over-substance media darling near the Oval Office, unless it is in the capacity of a guest. He actually suggested having a chat with the leaders of Iran and Syria so he can outline their "responsibilities" over there.....LMAO. Yeah...this guy lives in the real world.

Money talks- so does the sheer number of campaign contributers. . .and the detractors are saying nothing of subtance and retarded-refrains. "I don't know what he stands for" (His positions on all the major issues are spelled out in his speeches, website, and his New York Times bestelling book.) "He's a kooky leftist [translation-anyone but a neo-con]" Republicans and Democrats have commented that he has centrist tendencies that meet across the aisle- his placating religious (to some) attitudes aren't in the universe of leftism. "I don't trust him" - Why? Could be possibly be any more or less trustworthy than any other snake-oil candidate from either party? "Not black enough" Race-baiting garbage from the oh-so-liberal-media that wouldn't dare ask Leiberman in any race if he wasn't too Jewish, ask Hillary is she isn't too much of a pushy broad, or Bush if he's too much of an inarticulate born-again zealot with no logical capacity. I still think Obama is too smart for the job and Americans like simple-talking-heads who deliver soundbites that make them sleep better at night, but considering what the detractors say Obama is a solid contender for the job. Again, the biggest obstacle is the intellectual prowess- being smart isn't in vogue anymore. . .

I don't care how many pictures they show of him praying in church. Something about this guy just doesn't sit right. I don't know, he reminds me of thin ice, all shiny and pretty but nothing underneath and potentially dangerous....
