Since on my two efforts, I can't even make the damn thing work, techno-peasant that I am, it has absolutely no effect at all as far as I'm concerned.

What effect it may have on others I have no idea. Personally, I don't care very much what people on this site think of my opinions.

I think the opposite is much more likely to be true. Human nature being what it is and the realities of RIA being what they are, I think most people will now feel obligated to give their friends (and their friends' lists and list items) a high rating rather than rating as they truly feel. Others will feel intimidated into giving high ratings (or avoid rating something altogether) only to avoid being harassed or browbeaten by some pissed off stranger. I don't see honesty resulting from any of this. In fact, I think that honesty may become the first victim of this new capability.

Apologies to Lawrence who I know is committed to improving the website. I just don't think this particular improvement will have the intended results. I hope I'm wrong.

Transparancy in government, maybe...transparancy here, not as needed...there is something to being anonymous every so often...

This is the real intent, so I'm told.
