08/21/2007 | Some call it vintage others retro. I call it the most dismal, bleak and dull period of architecture since the first creaky lean-to was slapped together. I'm sure others will disagree but, that sunburst clock, horizontal, plastic Jetson's look period was just plain nasty. And to top it off, that same Holly Golightinthehead era was also responsible for ripping down some of the most wonderful historic buildings ever built. No surprise there. Thank God historic conservation minded people got a grip on the situation and managed to preserve a few of them before it was too late.
