This doesn't bother me too much if its mainly just the lights. Now if we are talking about the big blow up jobs or Santa and his reindeer are still in the yard, then well...

What's the big deal? Does anyone with a real education think that Christ's birthday is dec. 25th anyway?

This reeks of white trash. Reminds me of a reoccurring line in Gretchen Wilson's "Redneck Woman."

I can think of a lot worse things that would be offensive.

Nothing screams I don't give flying fig about much of anything like a string of Christmas lights gracing the roof of your house in August. I've never been an extreme neighborhood covenant type and basically I'm pretty much a live and let live, decorate your lawn in whatever style suits your fancy kind of neighbor. But that open creative sense of freedom of expression kind of hits a sour note when you round a corner on a hot summer's day and see Rudolf and the fat guy in the red suit nestled in with the rest of the tacky yard decor. Makes you want to invest in high powered BB gun and embrace the life of a lawn ornament serial killer.

someone is either too lazy to take them down off their house. In stores it is annoying to see Christmas decorations way too early It does not entice me to shop early.

They do with all the holidays. At my work we already have Halloween stuff up.

Extremely annoying. I don't want to see Christmas decorations until December. And for some reason, it's the same stores and overly ambitious people who put the decorations up ridiculously eary that take them down on December 26. Wait at least until December (I personally don't think Christmas decorations are appropriate until at least Dec. 20 or so, but I know people can't wait that long) to put them up, and leave them up until at least New Years. The Christmas season starts on Christmas Eve, and lasts well into January. It is rather traditional to leave the decorations up until the Epiphany, but according to the Church, the Christmas season extends a few days past that until the celebration of the Baptism of Jesus. But in todays overly commercialized world, people seem to think that Christmas begins the day after Thanksgiving and ends promptly at midnight on Christmas Day.
