It's hard to know what the truth is anymore. The spin doctors are working overtime, doublespeak is rampant, credence does not exist or is not important, future agendas are murky, ethics has become as ancient as Latin, bozo's are protecting the clownhouse, religious beliefs have become more volitile. The truth is in there somewhere screaming to get out.

Most of the left - like virtually all of the right - seems to believe might makes right.

Truth can get you only as far is someone is willing to listen to it.

What kind of truths are we talking about here? The truth that Sandy Berger accidently shoved a bunch of papers in his pants? The truth that the best way to help the economy is to raise taxes and give people less money? The truth that every time someone fails, does something bad, or gets something wrong it was all someone elses fault or a "right wing conspiracy"? The truth in movies by Al Gore and Michael Moore?

Show me some truth and maybe you'll persuade me. Keep telling lies, making excuses, and blaming someone else for your faults and you'll get nowhere.

Truth? What's truth anymore? Tell me something true! I know very little undisputable truth anymore and I think that's a problem. People expect me to believe some undisputable rock bottom truth that's just crazy and far-fetched. Then their "truths" conflict with each other! How am I supposed to believe in any of it!?!?!?! I believe maybe three things anymore that I'll discuss and even they are subjective: The Cardinals suck, Jessica Alba is hot, and lightsabers kick ass. Anybody got some truth?

Ah CS...Americans do want truth about important issues- like, who is the father of Anna Nicole's baby? Is Brad cheating on Angelina? Does Britney really have a lesbian lover?

Americans don't want truth- they are more interested in comfort. Truth (social, politcal, and most definitely personal)is a real bitch and most would rather be rocked to sleep at night with soundbites from the TV and the compromises we make on a daily basis that (perhaps) don't make us feel good about ourselves. Neither political stripe owns a monopoly on the truth- but the public owns the house on an inability to desire or handle it. . .

Once again, both sides of the aisle are equally guilty of this.

In my lengthy experience in politics, the "truth" never convinced anyone.

The truth should persuade anyone but it rarely does with people who choose not to believe. This ideology is really not true to the political left.

It seems that this weblist is slanted to those with liberal ideas.

If there's one mistake my fellow leftists are frequently guilty of, it's the idea that having the facts and science on our side will be enough to persuade disbelievers. Time and time again, facts have been shown to have little currency with people of faith.
