Well, I'm not sure about the listing as being some strange belief by politically Liberal people or not. I don't think that anyone truly thinks that there is "infinite power" of education. I mean, knowledge and education are both good and all, but unfortunately nothing can solve all of the ills of society.

At least for me, I'm actually astounded at the infinite power of ignorance mixed with fanaticism. Not a huge fan of quotes, but I guess Einstein said it better than I could: "Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former."

I know it's too late, but I'm still motivated to ask: "Who will educate Marx?"

OK, now I have two serious things to say on this subject:

1) All educated people are self-educated.

2) If I must be ruled by some sort of self appointed elite, I'd prefer it be by those who don't believe Ignorance is Strength.

I think both sides have some of this, but by far, the leftos have this idealogy more than the other side. The problem is rooted in the fallacy that man is inherently good, and all we have to do is wipe away the ignorance. After schooling, presto! The inherent goodness pops out and everything is going to be just fine.

We see that in the conflict in Iraq. All we have to do is set up a few institutions, maybe write them a new constitution, teach them a little about our form of "democracy," build a few schools, and we will have a new Nebraska in the desert!

This comes off a bit odd. It's not the power of education so much as the destruction of public schools and the rabid stance against private schools. Education is never a bad thing, but it all depends on what it being taught and how.

If seen too many educated idiots who are so enlightened that they close their minds to the words of a knuckle-dragger like me.

Education can be good and it can be flawed. It depends on the source of the data and the teacher.

What. . .f#cking. . .shite. Academic revolutions and ideas that change the world are almost always seen as awful by the town elders at first. This has nothing to do with political stripe- if you are offended by what an education provides it exposes your insecurities. Academics, artists, and intellectuals always make lousy slaves, n'est pas?

Education is good but sometimes it makes them closes minded and unwilling to listen.

Leftists believe that human beings are malleable through education, which is why our favorite negative epithet is "ignorant." We think that even our opponents who have dug deep trenches against us can be persuaded through education. Yet as Marx once asked, "Who will educate the educators?"
