My favorite t.v. police show of the era due in large part to Lee Marvin as the star. I really can't say how good the show would be today but I remember a certain gritty realism that was quite refreshing for that time.

No weekend was complete without the seemingly realistic (for the times) episodes from NBC about the exploits of this police unit, Lieutenant Frank Ballinger (Lee Marvin) fought crime in Chicago. Where TV drama is concerned, this and the 'Naked City' series (as well as others) made audiences realize that the medium had come to maturity beyond the also justifiably popular entertainment, i.e., the 'Peter Gunn' and 'Perry Mason' series.
