Wordless music can be quite creative. One can concentrate on the artistry of the way the instruments are played; this allows the imagination to work hard. Really effective on someone like me since I'm versatile in my musical tastes.

If where talking about gentle stains of piano or harp played over a background of the sound of waves on a beach or whales humping, then there's no place for that shit other than a cheesey spa. Its guilty but no pleasure. But if your tastes are even slightly less than mainstream pop radio or Diana Kral and include jazz, bluegrass, world, chamber, tango, folk, ambient, celtic, surf, blues among others you'll be listening to music without lyrics all the time.

I don't feel "guilty",but it's often my pleasure. There's a lot of good bands with bad singers who I WISH were playing an "instrumental".....

depends on what kind of instrumental music. Elevator music where they take pop songs and turn it into 1000 strings not really. but other kinds like bluegrass, Classic, big band, and some songs that were created with instruments only in the first place can be very nice. I agree there are some instrumental I would turn the channel others are very nice pieces of music.i just got a CD called Unforgettable instrumental hits. these are songs that were all instrumental from the beginning and so far an enjoyable listen.

Old school swing for me thanks to my trombone playing days.

I think instrumental music is very relaxing.
