Poor planning/dispatching by MOVEX which resulted in the following:
Issue #1:
At the time of loading, I was instructed by the driver that MOVEX dispatching had gotten the sequence of loading/unloading multiple shipments of household goods on the same trailer out of order. I was told that I would be required to leave a two foot walk way down the right side of the tractor trailer to facilitate the unloading of two other families’ household goods prior to the unloading of my household goods. So rather than being able to utilize the trailer space from floor to ceiling and wall to wall, I was required to attempt to stack my entire household goods to the left wall of the tractor trailer. Then I was required to attempt to secure my entire household goods to that wall with limited nylon straps. I was required by Movex to attempt to strap the contents of a 3000 square foot home to the wall of a tractor trailer that was going to be driven overland 2000 plus miles. This requirement, which was dictated by MOVEX, doomed the moving process to failure. The service advertised by MOVEX stated I would be afforded trailer space floor to ceiling and wall to wall. This proved to be false in this instance.
Issue #2:
The driver called me on 6/21/09 from Louisiana and said that he had stopped to check the load and that my household items had shifted and been thrown into the two foot walkway. He said that doors had been ripped off of cabinets and furniture had shifted, boxes had fallen and he “just wanted to warn me” so that I would not be “mad” at him when he delivered my household goods. I later found out, from the driver, that when you stopped in Houston, TX, to unload another families household goods that were at the front of the trailer, their goods were not accessible because my household goods were all over the trailer. The driver called MOVEX and explained the situation and MOVEX apparently hired laborers from Labor Ready to unload/restack/re-load my household goods. This fact was never disclosed to me by MOVEX, rather the driver told me this on 6/25/09 when he delivered my household goods to Arlington, TX. The fact that temporary laborers had access to my household goods and a significant amount of time with my household goods is completely unacceptable.
Issue #3:
The driver also informed me that at least once during the unloading of another customer’s household goods, in either Houston or San Antonio, TX, he had to tell one of the customers that he was unloading a box that belonged to me. During this move, I used all Home Depot boxes and apparently the driver saw another customer taking a Home Depot box off the trailer and stopped them from doing so. The service advertised by MOVEX stated that I would not have access to other customer’s household goods and they would not have access to my household goods. This proved to be false in this instance.
Issue #4:
Upon unloading of my household goods in Arlington, TX, I discovered that I have a great deal of damage to my household goods. Damage ranges from broken clocks, couches with holes in them, cabinets with doors ripped off, cabinets with holes punched in them, dishes shattered, pictures destroyed, etc. These damages are directly attributable to MOVEX requiring me to leave a two foot walk way down the right side of the trailer in order to fix their scheduling/dispatch error.
Issue #5:
Upon unloading of my household goods in Arlington, TX, I discovered that I have at least two boxes of household items that do not belong to me. I was the last customer to unload my household goods, so the fact that I have someone else’s boxes, means they failed to unload their boxes prior to my household goods arriving. These items need to be returned to their owners at MOVEX’S expense.
Issue #6:
As mentioned above, other customers and temporary laborers had access to my household goods. Not only access, but they both had extensive time with and handled my household goods. It should be of no surprise then that I have boxes of household items, an entire suite of ceramic tile tools and at least one piece of patio furniture missing. Everything mentioned above, which was dictated by MOVEX, directly contributed to this situation.
Issue #6:
Also missing from my household goods is a box containing 20 years of New Yorker Magazine covers and a rather large piece of the Berlin Wall. I have no way of putting a price on.
10) In your opinion, do the damaged goods retain any salvage value: (yes or no) YES and NO
If yes, please give details:
Some of the damaged items do not have any value. Items such as smashed clocks, dishes, pictures, cabinets with doors ripped off, etc.
Some of the damaged items have value, such as couches and cabinets with holes punched in them, because they are still functional. The problem is that the leather and/or fabric on the couches, for instance, cannot be matched and the couches need to be recovered or replaced.

Stu (Movex CEO),
Your customer service manager Molly Voth has stopped communicating with me, even though I have been patient and civil. My patience are nearing their end. I suggest you or your legal people contact me or I will be contacting them. In addition, I will contact the other two people whose stuff was damaged and or lost and see if they want to jump on board. Thanks
