With Steven's trial comming up, this will be a hum-dinger. The guy below me is very correct when he says Steven's is a pork pruducing machine. That is why Palin's choice as VP suprises me, she has endorsed Ted's hog trough tendecies.

Sen Ted Stevens, one of the oldest Senators currently serving, is in hot water, as corruption charges have been lodged against him. Last year the FBI raided his home and there is a chance that he might be running for re-election while under indictment. Republicans, sensing that Stevens is vulnerable, have put up a few candidates in the primary. None have taken off thus far, so I believe Stevens will be the nominee for the fall. He's going to have a rough go of it there. Anchorage Mayor Steve Begich is running a strong campaign to unseat him. Although Stevens has outraised him significantly, Begich still holds a decent lead in the polls. Stevens is taking the race seriously, which is why I think ultimately this is going to be a very close race. Also helping Stevens is the fact that he brings back a lot of money and projects to the state, so I imagine he's going to calling in a bunch of favors in the coming months. Not helping Stevens are national trends indicating strong Democratic gains. Alaska is reliably Republican, but it occasionally surprises.
