This is one cantina where the bartenders actually instigate rowdiness...thus my attraction to it. Sometimes they try to cut me off after only a couple of beers, and theres only a few beers to choose from, they are house brews that don't taste very good. The bartenders get hostile when I show up with my own beer, they say its too potent. What do you expect?...It's from Canada...

In 1927, a well known socialist Norman Thomas, said that the American people would refuse every aspect of the socialist agenda, but under the guise of liberalism, they would accept every part of socialism. I would say that Magellan and others are like Norman Thomas. UpdateCanadaSucks thinks that the 1st Amendment doesn't mean Freedom of Religion. They think it's Freedom From Religion. - Love the Revisionist History Liberals

My favourite bar, a cantina called Carlos and Murphy's, has a great atmosphere. People come, have a drink, talk, laugh, watch sports on one dinky little screen. The bartender is cordial and used to pull a lighter out of his shirt pocket to light you up, back in the days when people smoked in bars. The waitresses are real girls, friendly, not over solicitous, and they greet the regulars by name. There's a brew pub across the street that actually brews a house beer for their taps. Sure they are competitors, but I'm guessing the brew pub likes the idea of selling beer to the customers across the street. It's that kind of area. Every now and then someone gets too loud, rowdy, steps out of line with the staff, or in some way detracts from the social ambiance. Management politely asks that they tone it down or continue their evening elsewhere where that sort of partying is the norm. Carlos and Murphy's has been packing them in for 23 years.

It wouldn't even be true if an American had any idea what a liberal really is. . .

A moronic idea- there are very few true 100 or close to 100 percent liberal regulars on this site. Drummond doesn't really come by anymore, and I haven't seen Loerke in a while.Edt 4, Jed, Franks, Bird 808, a handful of others. I would generalize myself as being, say, to the left of irishgit but to the right of edt. Some reviewers are conservative in some ways and liberal in others. Some are hard to classify like magellan. Most of the bitching I've seen has come from some of the far right reviewers who talk about some long ago golden age of conservatives and other nonsense. When I first came here, the site was infested with reviewers who spouted anti Catholic gibberish, were basically on the verge of leading witchhunts for homosexuals, immigrants, and anyone less white than say Bob Hope, and weren't too shy about making all sorts of racist and crypto racist comments. One of the more depressing/ absurd things in the last month or so is the sudden appearance of "the poor, oppressed, misunderstood, mainstream white Anglo Saxon Protestant Republican middle class reviewer." Such individuals are advised to maybe spend some time on an Indian reservation or in a ghetto, perhaps they'd learn a little humility and grace instead of trying to shove it down people's throats....

Never noticed it. I doubt RIA would have the following that it does if it regulated beyond its clear, simple, and absolutely a-political rules.
