It was written almost immediately following the shootings at Kent State in righteous indignation and burning rage, and those emotions are still forceful and potent decades later, despite (as Irishgit rightfully notes) its being overplayed on the radio. Now if only someone could be as passionately inspired as Neil Young was in 1970 to write an equally corrosive and beautiful song about what's been happening in America for the past several years and decades...What a rallying cry that might be!
