Quite impressive. Kennedy's grave and the tomb of the unknown soldier give it even more appeal.

This is America's largest national burial ground with more than 600 acres of hills. Among the thousands headstones are the graves of President John Kennedy, Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, world champion boxer Joe Louis, America's most decorated soldier, Audie Murphy and the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

You must go, and take the driving tour. Take a little time and make sure you see the Lee Mansion.

Our most hallowed ground. A must-see and a very short walk from the Metro.

Rateitbe surely said it best. A must see if you go to D.C.

Sobering and the greatest monument AGAINST war that anyone could ever create (if only more people saw it in that light).

Being a military cemetery, it's not as noteworthy as Massachusett's own Mount Auburn Cemetery from an architectural point of view. However, for the sheer magnitude of these honoured dead, you can't match it. Just on the brief bus tram, we passed the Kennedys, Audie Murphy, Admiral Bird, Admiral Rickover, General Jimmy Dolittle, President Taft, Supreme Court Justices, it just goes on and on. A truly fitting resting place for the greatest Americans, and a memorial for the ordinary citizen that answered his nation's call in times of need, for the vast majority of those buried here are ordinary soldiers.

The Arlington National Cemetary can be described just as its entrance sign reads: it is "one of America's greatest shrines". It's a pretty good walk throughout the entire cemetary, and it is simply beautiful to just walk around and enjoy the scenary of beautiful hills and trees. The Kennedy gravesite, The Arlington House, the Confederate War Memorial and The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier are all very surreal when you see them in person. It is definately not to be missed.

Perhaps I'd have enjoyed it a little more had a thunderstorm not been going on while I was there. Arlington Cemetary is definitely worth the long Metrorail ride. I've even got a few relatives in there, plus the Kennedy gravesite and Tomb of the Unknowns are pretty cool when you get a chance to see them in person. I'm not going to say it was the most amazing thing I've ever seen, but anyone who goes to Washington should not miss it...it's got nice scenery, quiet footpaths, and is a much more patriotic site than the National Mall (why is that #2 on this list, by the way?). Take care, everyone!

This cemetary is beautiful nd has many important memorials. The tour is wonderful, but I only have one complaint, the Confederate war memorial is completely skipped and not even mentioned even though it is the largest memorial in the cemetary. If you get out to Arlington be shure to take the time to see it yourself it is worth the extra effort.

My cousins husband was buried there. The timeless ritual gave amazing dignity to the event, heightening the sense of sorrow and poignancy.

Definitely worth the time to get out there and see this. The changing of the guards is really cool, it's amazing how precise and rigid they can be at the same time. The landscaping is incredible, the rows just seem to go on and on. Nice for strolling through and taking it all in.

This stop is worth your time. The Changing of the Guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier is a solem and sobering event, gravesites of John F. and Robert F. Kennedy are a short walk away. The Arlington House, which is the original homesite on the property has a facinating history. And don't miss the Women in Military Service for America Memorial, it is fairly new.

Eerily frightening and breathtaking at the same time.
