Tommy & Tuppence 5

Funny, well made, not at all gaudy, and completely enjoyable. The characters were not exactly as they were in the books, but very nicely done. I enjoyed it.

To the irish git: Tommy and Tuppence are the some of the best productions of Agatha Christie's wonderful creations. Though "Partners in Crime" could at times be a bit frivolous, no mystery author can be at their best or close to it in a series of short stories, there is not enough run time. All the same, the novel had many gems of conversation, and by using the adjectives you chose, you sound like a superior condescending stick-in-the-mud.

Tommy & Tuppence 1

Effete, foppish and ridiculous.

Somehow manages to be worse than the fatuous novels on which they are based.

Tommy & Tuppence 3

The following "exerpts" from a review by Simon Leake (Amazon.com) pretty well capture how I felt about the series.

Tommy and Tuppence stars James Warwick and Francesca Annis as Agatha Christie's husband-wife team of amateur detectives. They zoom around 1920's England in a very posh car and solve all kinds of high-society crimes. The show benefits from some wonderful period details--Annis seems to change her hat and her dress every 30 seconds...

Tommy and Tuppence don't have the staying power of Christie's more famous creations. Their adventures can be fun.... but you need to be in the mood for witty repartee...
